The Department of Regenerative Medicine and Translational Science, the first of its kind in India, commenced at Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine, a premier institute for medical research, on the 9th of April 2012, with the joining of Dr. Niranjan Bhattacharya, DSc, MD, MS, FACS, FICS, FICOG, FSOG, one of the pioneers of stem cell research and a globally renowned scientist, with the mandate to commission an advanced research-oriented department with a clinical setup.
